SMU has secured significant commitments from several top players in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area for its 2025 recruiting class, further solidifying its status as a powerhouse in local recruitment.
Zadian Gentry, a cornerback from McKinney, has chosen SMU over offers from Oklahoma State, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Baylor. Standing at 6’0″, Gentry has excellent length, clean footwork, and impressive defensive skills. He is a “sticky defender” and a “ball hawk,” traits that will significantly bolster SMU’s secondary.
Sael Reyes, a 4-star safety from DeSoto, has also committed to SMU, selecting the Mustangs over Arkansas, Colorado, Arizona, Miami, and Oregon. Reyes is a big hitter with great coverage skills and range and is a versatile player who excels in nickel coverage.
Xavier Johnson, a wide receiver from Richland High School, has committed to the Mustangs, choosing them over Baylor, Texas Tech, and TCU. At 6’2″, Johnson is a big-bodied target with great hands, smooth route-running abilities and a large catch radius, making him a formidable addition to the receiving corps.
These players join a talented group of 13 commits in SMU’s 2025 class, which includes other notable DFW stars like Keelon Russell (Duncanville), Daylon Singleton (Desoto), Javion Holiday (Duncanville), Tyren Polley (Duncanville), Nathan Tilmon (Mansfield Timberview), and Elijah Pratt (IMG). This impressive recruitment haul shows SMU’s successful strategy in attracting top local talent and building a strong foundation as they head into the ACC.
