Quanell X Farrakhan Jr to Colorado

BREAKING: Houston’s own Quanell X Farrakhan Jr (@QuanellJr) commits to the University of Colorado over Alabama, Texas A&M and Nebraska on 713 day. Earlier this year, Farrakhan Jr transferred from The Woodlands to 6A-D1 powerhouse Galena Park North Shore. So much star power, past and present have donned the Mustang colors and Quanell definitely fits the bill. Coming in as a four star receiver and a top 50 player in the state of Texas, playing for a title contender was the only thing missing from his résumé. Since 2024 seniors Christopher Barnes and Terrence Guillory graduated, there was a need to add to the wideout position alongside Deion DeBlanc and Cameron Smith. Farrakhan Jr brings versatility to Mustangs offense – he can lineup anywhere from the X to the slot and can run the Wildcat at a highly effective level. The 25′ young star can go vertical, across the middle or take a screen 75 yards to the house. He’s a quick, elusive receiver with an underrated presence in the red zone. As one of the best open field ball carriers, I know a secondary hate to see him coming. Standing about 6’0, 180 pounds, Quanell is a well built kid who already looks like a future number one receiver in any college program and he still have room to grow. Colorado is getting a tough, consistent, hard working athlete. One of the more impressive things about the Buffalo pledge is his willingness to play defense. He played some cornerback and special teams last year during his junior season. I often say that it takes a different kind of grit to play in all three phases. He’ll get a chance to continue doing that in Coach Deion Sanders system and I’m sure that played a part in his commitment. Quanell accounted for 25 total touchdowns in 2023 with the Woodlands Highlanders. Those numbers may dip a bit from previous years due to North Shore’s margin of victory, which could require him to sit most second halves. However, make no mistake about it, Farrakhan Jr will make every touch count and don’t be surprised if he makes weekly sportscenter-esque plays. His on-field play jumps off the screen and he will have no problem meeting the expectations of a winning culture. Quanell X Farrakhan Jr is the complete package and more, similar to Travis Hunter so I can see why Coach Prime fell in love with this young man. Farrakhan Jr.’s whole swag and aura screams Colorado. You have to be of a certain cloth to play there and there’s no doubt he’ll make a positive impact. First things first though, bringing another championship back to North Shore and ending his illustrious, storied high school career on a high note is top priority.
