Rickards wins 5th Straight Rivalry Matchup vs Godby

Rickards High School in Tallahassee has seen some talented running backs over the years in their football program.

Class of 2026 back Karlise Price may be the next in line for the Raiders.

Price rushed for two touchdowns in Rickards’ 22-21 win over Godby on Friday night. The majority of his 85 yards on 16 carries came in the second half of play.

“It’s his turn, it’s his turn and he’s dialed in at it,” Raiders coach Quintin Lewis said. “He worked real hard all week.”

“Early on we had to make some adjustments with how we were blocking from what they were doing. Once the adjustments were made, we were good to go.”

Both teams struggled early on, and the Cougars grabbed a 3-0 lead at the halftime break on a short field goal.

Special teams would wind up being a major determining factor in the game. Godby scored with 2:38 remaining to make the score 22-21, but had their ensuing extra point attempt that would have tied the game blocked.

Rickards 2026 defensive back Roy Andrews blocked that kick as well as another kick attempted earlier in the contest.

Florida commit and defensive line standout Jalen Wiggins for the Raiders racked up six tackles and made his presence felt throughout.

His most notable play came late in the contest, when Godby quarterback Lazarus Chambers took off scrambling. After Chambers made a cut to get free from a tackler, Wiggins emerged seemingly out of nowhere form behind and placed a big hit on Chambers that had him a bit slow to get up.

Chambers, the 2026 Cougars QB, would respond though.

Later in that same drive, Chambers showed off his dual threat ability and improvisational skills as he scrambled for a touchdown and fought through contact at the goal line to cap off the score.

On the night, Chambers rushed for two touchdowns and threw for another.

Following the rushing score, Godby had their tying point after attempt blocked by Andrews. The Cougars were unable to get the ball back from that point.

The win added to the current Rickards streak over Godby.

“Great game by them, great game by Godby,” Lewis said. “It was a nail biter, that’s five in a row for us though.”
