QB Beau Granger (6th grade) had a really good showing this past weekend in Fort Worth. This kid was impressive during pool play and was a big part of his team’s success. Granger has a nice arm for a young athlete his age and his accurate passing is what stood out the most. He has length to play the quarterback position as well. Keep an eye out for this young man for years to come.
WR Michael Brown (7th grade) was phenomenal throughout the entire tournament. I’m calling it now – this kid will be a big time player in the near future and everyone will know his name. His play just stuck out like a sore thumb. Having Michael on the field was a mismatch for any defensive back who tried to guard him. He’s a fairly polished route runner for a young receiver, exceptional hands and is a blur after the catch. He’s definitely a star on the rise and I’m looking forward to watching his development.
27′ SAF Brayden Bolds (@bolds_brayden) is really an underrated prospect who deserves a ton of exposure. Bolds is a football magnet in the secondary. He’s very instinctive, which almost always leads to him being right. It’s like he just knows where the ball is going pre-snap. This young star in the making has really good footwork and his closing speed is elite. Nowadays, coaches love those tall, athletic safeties with long arms and Brayden definitely fits the bill. If I’m a college recruiter, I’m taking a good look at this kid for my program.
DB Bronson Harris (5th grade) was very versatile in the secondary. This young man was all over the field in DR7 – Fort Worth, TX tournament. He moves really well from sideline to sideline and is very disciplined in his technique. His team, True Buzz, secured the 10U thanks to the help of Bronson.
WR Neven Davis (5th grade) was perhaps the most dominant wide receiver in the 10U bracket. He walked away with MVP honors as his team, True Buzz, won the 10U title. Davis has a great release off the line of scrimmage and was losing defenders all tournament long. His hands are some of the best and he made crazy, contested catches often. There were several times where it seemed as if a pass was too difficult to make and he’d still come down with it. The opposing teams knew he was the main option and still couldn’t stop this kid. Neven is a true game breaker when he’s on the field and he plays both ways, so that shows how great of an athlete he is. Look out for him for years to come.
ATH Denario Byrd (5th grade) was a real bright spot in DR7 – Fort Worth, TX. He always defended the other teams best player and made plays when given the opportunity. Quarterbacks kept taking chances on his side and he made them pay. Although his team came up short in the 10U Championship game, Byrd had two interceptions, including a pick six. This kid is fast and has really good ball skills.
QB Isaiah Maldonado (Abilene Finest 10U) is a talented, young passer with a brilliant understanding of the game. I was blown away at how he called his own plays and had success in doing so. Maldonado also lined his receivers up in different spots and formations based on how the defense adjusted. This is next level quarterback play right here. He showed accuracy and ability to throw into tight areas and also he led the receiver open so they didn’t have to slow down or come back to the ball. Isaiah is a player to know in the 7v7 circuit and I’m looking forward to following his football journey.
27′ WR Josiah Grant (@Jo2xx_) was outstanding at DR7 – Fort Worth, TX this past weekend. He’s definitely a player you should get to know about. He’s only a sophomore, so he’s nowhere near his full potential. Grant displayed arguably the strongest hands of any receiver I’ve seen during the tournament. He has a quick release off the line of scrimmage, shifty footwork and has the capabilities to run everything in the route tree. Josiah made several catches in traffic that were impressive. Hand fighting is becoming more and more prevalent in today’s game and this young standout was very AJ Brown-esque when it comes to that. He’s a big, physical receiver who doesn’t shy away from competition. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a huge pop in his recruitment in the near future. Be on the lookout for great things to come his way soon.
