29′ DB Giovan Kossouoh (@giovankossouoh2) is an athletic defensive back with good ball skills. I recalled multiple times where he instinctively dug his foot into the ground, broke on the ball, and created a turnover or disrupted the pass. Giovan has good speed and plays aggressive at the line of scrimmage.
28′ RB/LB Javier Mccoy (@javiermccoy23) is a do-it-all young star on the rise with massive potential at multiple positions. Mccoy is built like a linebacker but runs well to be a skilled player. He displays a high IQ when running his routes by sitting in open zones and making things easy for his quarterback. Mccoy has the size that’s coveted by any recruiter in the nation to be an asset to a collegiate program. I watched his film and this kid is a bruiser! He kept his legs moving when hitting the hole, and defenders had a hard time bringing him down. He’s only a freshman, so he’s nowhere near his final form. Do not sleep!
28′ QB Kenneth Boyd (@h_boyd7) was outstanding during pool play at DR7 – STL. Boyd is a lefty, who can put some serious heat on the football. However, he’s not just all velocity. He’s sharp from every part of the field. This is a tall, slender gunslinger who can make any throw on the route tree. He has good mechanics from the waist down, and I expect his name to appear on recruiting boards in the near future.
28′ WR Tyler Vo (@tvo2028) was a pleasure to watch on Saturday. He’s sneaky fast and creates separation on a consistent basis. You can make a case that he was the MVP of his team in one of the pool play games. Vo wins repeatedly from his release and never allows the defensive back a chance to get back into the play. This young playmaker has mastered the route tree and he has a plethora of moves that enables to win off of the line of scrimmage. His hands are superb and can contort his body to haul in difficult receptions. This is a promising wide receiver that many recruiters need to get their eyes on early.
26′ WR Lawrence Jones (@Lawrence20Jones) is a long, fit receiver with a wide catch radius. Jones’ long stride makes him a threat on the outside perimeter. He can turn 50/50 jump balls to his advantage with his leaping ability and strong hands. His strengths outside of the physical attributes are his footwork and how he makes every route initially look the same before he gets into his cuts. This kid has what it takes to be a Division 1 recruit when it’s all said and done.
26′ DB Robert Reddick (@robert5reddick) was perhaps the most well-rounded defensive back I saw earlier today. Reddick was active and around the football often. This kid is a true ball hawk with elite acceleration. His ability to fight through a receivers hands was a pleasant sight to see because it seems as if it’s a lost art in today’s game. With the game now being more about offensive guys, it’s imperative that defenders use any advantage they have and play until you hear the whistle. Reddick has several offers from schools such as Illinois, Kansas, Purdue and Yale.
26′ DB Ashton Johnson (@ashtonmjohnson) made a play that stunned the entire DR7 – STL crowd! It was a one-handed interception in traffic. The most impressive thing about it was how much ground he covered to get across the other side of the field in time to make the interception. Ashton has serious speed. However, do not get it confused. This kid wasn’t just a spectacular play merchant. He was consistent throughout day one in St. Louis. Johnson looks the part with his rangy, slim, but ripped frame. He possesses many excellent qualities you’d want in a defensive back. He doesn’t immediately bail and doesn’t let the receiver control his direction. Johnson has fluid hips, aggressive hands, and the kid can jump with the best of them as well. Recruiters, he me on notice during pool play with he ability to be a defensive playmakers. He has the skill set that shows that his football in in front of him. Get eyes on him now.
