With spring football heating up and OT7 competition reaching new heights, few defensive backs have made more noise than Josiah Robinson, a 2027 ATH/DB from Lee’s Summit North (MO). Standing at 5-foot-10, 175 pounds, Robinson blends physicality, technique, and confidence—qualities he showcased while suiting up for 7v7 national powerhouse California Power.

Fresh off an impressive showing in Dallas, Robinson sat down with The Platform to talk about his breakout 2024 season, the journey with Cali Power, and his ambitions for the future.

Friday Night Lights: 2024 Highlights

Coach Buckets: First off, tell us about your top moments from the 2024 season.

Josiah Robinson: No question—my biggest moment was that 102-yard pick-six! I read the quarterback’s eyes, jumped the route, and took it the distance. When I came down with that ball in the end zone, it felt unreal. A moment I’ll never forget.

Recruiting, Camp Season & What’s Next

Coach Buckets: How’s recruiting going, and what’s on your schedule this summer?

Robinson: It’s been solid. I’ve got a handful of camps lined up starting June 1, along with scrimmages and training. I’m staying active, staying ready.

The Cali Power Connection

Coach Buckets: You played this spring with California Power. How did that opportunity come together?

Robinson: Shoutout to Coach Mozee, he put my name out there. I got started with Cali Power near the end of my freshman year. Coach Porter saw the hustle in me and brought me back. I can’t really speak on guys like DaSaahn Brame or Linkon Cure, but I’m sure they were dogs. I’m just glad to be part of the Cali Power family.

OT7 Impact & Facing the Best

Coach Buckets: What impact has OT7 and 7v7 had on your recruitment and game?

Robinson: It’s helped big time. Playing on a national stage gives you a platform to get noticed. I take every rep seriously because college coaches are always watching.

Coach Buckets: You go against elite guys like Vance Spafford and Mark Bowman in practice. What have you learned from those battles?

Robinson: Man, they’re dogs. Practicing against them sharpened my reads, made me more precise in coverage, and boosted my confidence. It’s helped me prepare to dominate on Friday nights.

Mindset, Motivation & Mentors

Coach Buckets: What’s led to your success?

Robinson: Having the right people around you is everything. My faith in God, belief in myself, and a solid support system help me grind every day. You gotta stay true to the soil.

Coach Buckets: Who do you want to thank?

Robinson: First, Coach Jamar Mozee—he’s done so much for me and my teammates. Big shoutout to the whole LSN coaching staff: Coach Rogers, Saff, Wash, Caldwell, and Coach E. And most importantly—my mom. She’s the real MVP. I owe her everything.

The College Fit & Beyond the Stats

Coach Buckets: What do you look for in a school, and any idea what you want to major in?

Robinson: I want a school where I can be authentically me and learn from wins and losses. I’m big on honesty, integrity, and fairness. I’m interested in majoring in Arts & Communication—especially media.

Coach Buckets: What separates you from the pack?

Robinson: My energy and natural leadership. I keep the vibes up, stay hype, and lead by example. That attitude rubs off on people and helps the whole team level up.

Recruitment & Visits

Coach Buckets: You’ve already received offers from Arkansas, Kent State, UCF, and Miami (OH). You’ve visited LSU, Texas A&M, Kansas, Missouri, SMU, Arizona, and Arizona State. Any favorites so far?

Robinson: That’s a tough one, lol. A few definitely stood out—schools with welcoming vibes and genuine people. Right now, I’m open to any school that believes in me. The sky’s the limit.

Advice for Young Athletes

Coach Buckets: What’s your advice for younger players navigating NIL and recruiting?

Robinson: “Comparison is the thief of joy.” Don’t worry about someone else’s path. Grind when no one’s watching and be patient. Your time will come. Just make your story yours.

Shouting Out Teammates

Coach Buckets: Who are some under-the-radar players at LSN that deserve more attention?

Robinson: We’ve got dogs at LSN. Keep your eyes on William Ray, Nolan Spinks, Bryce Davis, Logan Mayfield, Justin Lindsey, Caleb Green, and Brady Sibbing. Don’t sleep on them!

Final Word

Josiah Robinson isn’t just another athlete, he’s a leader, a grinder, and a student of the game with a bright future ahead. With continued growth and national exposure, the Lee’s Summit North standout is well on his way to becoming one of the premier defensive backs in the country for the 2027 class.
