Washburn University hosted its annual 7v7 Skills Camp, drawing high school teams from Washburn Rural, Shawnee Heights, Perry Lecompton, and Cair Paravel Latin School. The event gave athletes a chance to perform in front of Washburn coaches and scouts, aiming to land on the Ichabods’ radar or attract interest from other collegiate programs. With Washburn’s strong track record of sending players to the NFL and Division I programs, competition was fierce as athletes looked to separate themselves.
2026 TE/DE Ayden Crosswhite – Washburn Rural (@AydenCrosswhite)
One of the most complete prospects at the camp was Ayden Crosswhite, a tight end from Washburn Rural who also plays defensive end. Crosswhite displayed advanced route awareness, finding soft spots in zone coverage and using his size and hands to win one-on-one matchups. He also brings physicality as a blocker, making him a true dual-threat tight end with value in both the run and pass game.
Crosswhite has already appeared at the KC Varsity Camp and Washburn’s 7v7, and holds invites from a growing list of schools including Kansas Wesleyan, Central Arkansas, Tennessee Tech, Penn, Grand View, Drake, Denison, Central Oklahoma, and more. He plans to attend additional camps at Lindenwood, Missouri Southern, McPherson, Fort Hays State, Kansas, Kansas State, and Southern Nazarene. He’s also been selected to play in the Hawaii Tiki Bowl, showcasing his growing profile.
2026 WR A.J. Gallegos – Shawnee Heights (@AJGallegos9)
No receiver stood out more than A.J. Gallegos of Shawnee Heights. Gallegos showed elite quickness off the line, crisp route-running, and most notably, explosive yards-after-catch ability. Rather than avoiding contact, Gallegos consistently turned upfield and used his burst to gain big chunks.
His acceleration and downhill running made him a favorite target throughout the day. He will camp at Lindenwood, Pittsburg State, and the Washburn Prospect Camp, and has already secured his first offer from Bethany College. With a big fall expected, Gallegos’ recruitment could take off in the coming months.
Shawnee Heights Duo Shines Again: Aiden Scott and Tyren Parker
Returning to the spotlight were two names familiar to Kansas high school football fans: QB Aiden Scott (@Aiden_Scott14) and WR Tyren Parker (@Tyrenparker7). The Shawnee Heights duo picked up right where they left off from Friday nights, connecting on deep balls and timing routes throughout the camp.
Parker, a Kansas Jayhawks commit, continues to show why he’s one of the top receivers in the state. Meanwhile, Scott, who led the state in passing yards as a junior, remains a top target for South Dakota and Washburn. Both are primed for a major senior campaign.
