The North Forney Falcons enter the 2025 season with momentum, confidence, and one of the most explosive rosters in Texas high school football. After finishing 8–4 overall and 5–1 in District 10-6A last fall, head coach Marcus Shavers has his team primed for another run at the playoffs, and the expectations in Forney are sky-high.
Offense: High-Octane and Balanced
The Falcons’ attack was among the most dangerous in the state last season, averaging 34.5 points per game. The good news for Falcon fans? Nearly every major playmaker is back.
- QB Legend Bey is the unquestioned leader. The dual-threat star accounted for 1,912 rushing yards and 28 TDs, along with 1,444 passing yards and 13 scores. His ability to stress defenses with both his legs and arm makes him one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in Texas.
- Elijah Otieno, a Wake Forest commit, is Bey’s top target. Last year, he hauled in 811 yards and nine touchdowns, giving the Falcons a reliable deep threat.
- Briceson Thrower Jr., a junior newcomer from Kansas, adds another weapon to the receiving corps.
- RB Andikan Asuquo, a first-team all-district selection, brings balance to the offense after rushing for 816 yards and six scores in 2024.
With this firepower, North Forney has the pieces to overwhelm opponents with both speed and versatility.
Defense: Experienced and Battle-Tested
While the Falcons’ offense gets much of the attention, the defense could be the unit that determines how far this team goes.
- Ryan Gilbert (SMU commit) and Josiah Turner (Missouri State commit) anchor one of the strongest secondaries in District 10-6A. Their physicality and ability to limit big plays will be crucial in matchups against high-powered passing attacks.
- LB J’Ynv Williams is a tone-setter in the middle. With 72 tackles and 14 tackles for loss last season, Williams is already on the radar of Division I recruiters.
If the defense can consistently match the offense’s energy, the Falcons could be among the most complete teams in Texas.
Key Games to Watch
North Forney’s schedule offers plenty of tests:
- Aug. 29 vs Dallas Skyline – A chance to set the tone early.
- Sept. 26 vs Forney (Unity Bowl) – This annual rivalry always brings out the best in both teams.
- Oct. 10 vs Rockwall-Heath – A critical midseason clash against a perennial playoff contender.
- Oct. 31 vs Longview – A Halloween showdown with a state powerhouse.
Navigating District 10-6A is never easy, but these matchups will shape the Falcons’ playoff positioning.
Unity Bowl: A Rivalry with Meaning
The Unity Bowl, played against cross-town rival Forney High, is more than just another game, it’s a community-wide event. The game atmosphere is electric every year. This year’s matchup could have even bigger implications in the district standi
Season Outlook
North Forney has all the ingredients for a special season: a game-changing quarterback, Division I-caliber weapons on both sides of the ball, and a coaching staff in it’s second year with the program.
The question is whether the Falcons can rise to the occasion in the biggest moments. Against teams like Rockwall, Longview, and rival Forney, execution and discipline will decide whether this squad is a good playoff team or a state contender.
Prediction: Expect the Falcons to be firmly in the playoff hunt and capable of a deep postseason run. With Legend Bey at the helm, no opponent can feel comfortable once the ball is kicked off.
