Ohio State Extends Offers to Two Texas Freshmen Standouts
The top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes continue to strengthen their Texas recruiting pipeline, extending offers this week to two of the state’s most impressive freshmen — ATH Sukora Cooper Jr. of Life Oak Cliff and DB Braylen Cunningham of North Crowley.
Over the years, the Buckeyes have built a strong connection to Texas talent. From 5-star cornerback Devin Sanchez (North Shore) and linebacker Riley Pettijohn (McKinney) to NFL star receiver Jackson Smith-Njigba (Rockwall), Ohio State has consistently attracted elite prospects from the Lone Star State.
ATH Sukora Cooper Jr. | Life Oak Cliff (TX) | 6’1”, 180 lbs
Cooper Jr. has made an immediate impact in his freshman season. A dynamic athlete with elite speed, strong hands, and precise route running, he’s been a nightmare for opposing defenses. Through early October, he recorded 803 total yards and 12 touchdowns.
In a statement game against Madison, Cooper Jr. showed his versatility — starting at quarterback and racking up 210 passing yards and 2 touchdowns, along with 211 rushing yards and 3 more scores.
On defense, he’s equally impressive. Cooper Jr. has the tools to play either cornerback or safety, showcasing great range, smooth footwork, and a natural feel for the game.
He now holds offers from Ohio State, Miami, and Nebraska, with more likely on the way.
DB Braylen Cunningham | North Crowley (TX) | 5’10”, 157 lbs
Cunningham is quickly emerging as one of the premier young defensive backs in Texas. A fluid cover corner with excellent hips, footwork, and closing speed, he consistently stays in phase with receivers and thrives in press-man coverage.
He’s also a reliable tackler who provides solid run support and brings energy to special teams. Dangerous with the ball in his hands, Cunningham recently returned a punt for a touchdown against Weatherford — a highlight that was unfortunately called back due to penalty.
The North Crowley standout has already earned offers from SMU, Texas Tech, Penn State, and now Ohio State, as his recruiting stock continues to soar.
Buckeyes Continue to Recruit Texas Hard
Ohio State’s focus on Texas shows no signs of slowing down. With Cooper Jr. and Cunningham joining a growing list of Lone Star prospects on the Buckeyes’ radar, it’s clear that Columbus remains a top destination for Texas’ best young talent.
