    DR7 Houston Standouts: pt.1

By: Nick Gradney (National Scout) @StatZ_G

28′ DB Chase Turner (@Chaseplayz32) was one of the better defensive backs Saturday at DR7 Houston. Showcasing his ability to man up outside on an island in both press and off man coverages, as well as zone. Turner has really good instincts and his eyes never gets caught in the backfield. His feet are quick enough to break on the ball and he possesses legitimate make-up speed. Turner plays on both 15U and 18U. In due time, this kid will become a respectable prospect.

28′ RB Micah Rhodes (@themicahrhodes) is one of the best running backs in the country in the class of 2028. He holds offers from Ohio State, Oregon, Ole Miss, amongst others, but his top 3 consists of Texas, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma. Rhodes is explosive when he gets to the next level of a defense but what’s more impressive is his vision at the line of scrimmage. His ability to shift through tackles is second to none. He’s not just a runner, this kid can make plays in the passing game as well. Look for him to play on Saturdays in the future.

27′ QB Sean Riegler (@SeanRiegler_QB1) amassed over 30 total touchdowns for Cy-Fair this past season. He’s a natural pocket passer who can really spin it. His poise in the pocket, reads, and the way he goes through his progressions is commendable. He’s an accurate passer with nice velocity. Riegler isn’t the bigger quarterback, but the talent is there. Trust your eyes with this kid, he’s a winner.

30′ WR Jace Perry (@thejaceperry)  is only an eighth grader but caught my attention with his size and agility. This kid playing all the way up on 18U and did more than hold his own. It reminds me a lot of Boobie Feaster when he was making a name for himself at his age. Perry is a really good route runner with an extraordinarily advanced release. Oftentimes, he made older defenders look silly. It’s only a matter of time before we’re looking at a highly touted prospect. Jace says he’ll likely be attending The John Cooper School.

27′ WR Henry Brooks (@HenryBrooks_8) has all the tools to play at the next level. Brooks broke onto the scene during his junior year with nearly a thousand receiving yards. He has good speed, can run any route in the tree, and excels with the deep ball. This kid is a real playmaker that makes the most of every opportunity. Standing 6’3, he’s a big target and an even bigger problem for any secondary. Expect this kid to have a huge summer.

28′ QB Nash Henry (@TheNashHenry) is a baller! He impressed me with his velocity and ball placement, particularly in tight windows. Henry is 6’4 and looks well over 200 lbs. He has good mechanics, and can make every throw, and it was on full display Saturday at DR7 Houston. With him being a sophomore, he can only get better, which is terrifying.

28′ ATH Aidan Edwards (@Aidan33137290) is a tough player who can play both sides of the ball. His natural position is safety but he has the skill set to play slot receiver if he wanted to. In DR7 Houston, he made timely plays to keep his team afloat and a was a huge reason for their success. Edwards is a young but talented kid who looks to make a name for himself in the near future.

26′ WR Joelle Arnett (@joellearnett2) is a tall, rangy wide receiver with a huge catch radius looking for a home. Arnette can be an asset to any program and is made up of the right stuff to make an immediate impact. He’s a true deep threat well can really vertical quickly. His one-cut moves in open space are amazing. He can be a real game changer due to his break away speed. Recruiters, do not fall in love with rankings, come get this kid!

29′ SAF Dante Roberts may be small in stature but his heart stands out amongst the rest. Roberts is just a freshman but his impact is of a veteran ball player. He has a knack for the ball and possesses great range to cover any part of the field. Roberts plays through the receivers hands to break up passes and can take the ball away. Don’t be surprised if you hear his name a lot this summer.
