    DR7 Houston: StatZ Standouts pt.2

By: Nick Gradney (National Scout) @StatZ_G

28′ QB Andrew Wood (@at_wood09) is a name to know in the greater Houston area. This kid has the makeup of a future collegiate prospect. He never gets too high or low, which speaks to how poise he is at the most important position in football. His pocket presence and awareness stands out amongst other attributes. He has a cannon for an arm as well as accuracy. Wood measurables are notable for a sophomore. He attends Tomball High School, a good football program that will give him an opportunity to play at a high level.

26′ WR Juan Ramirez (@D1JuanRamirez) was one of the better technicians I saw this past weekend at DR7 Houston. His release was quick and his routes were crisp. He pulled out an arsenal of moves which created separation from the defender. Ramirez has really nice hands and would be a good slot receiver at the next level. He had over 700 receiving yards on 15 yards per reception to go along with his 9 touchdowns in his senior season. Do not sleep on this young man, get you a baller.

28′ ATH Tyler Reed (@TYLERREEDCTX) could be climbing the ranks in a short time. This kid passes the eye test with flying colors. Reed can play both sides of the ball very well. Offensively, he’s a good receiver with nice speed, agility, and hands. He can high point the football and make contested catches as well. On the defensive side, he’s a ball magnet. He’s a sure tackler and can take the ball away when the opportunity presents itself. I expect to hear his name more often in the near future.

27′ DB Daniel Irvin (@DanielIrvin2027) was probably my favorite defender I had the pleasure of watching this past weekend at DR7 Houston. This kid oozes with confidence and has a natural swagger about him that he can back up with his play on the field. He’s a very smart, instinctive player that was near the ball on many key plays. His technique is sound and he plays the ball at the point of attack really well. Irvin looks to have a breakout senior campaign but if I’m a recruiter, I’m not waiting. I’m offering him now. He definitely can be a great addition to a college program.

27′ QB Chase Ames (@ames_chase) is one of the elite quarterbacks in Texas that doesn’t get talked about enough. The numbers are there, as well as the wins. There’s no doubt that the recognition will come soon for such a deserving player. Ames can make every throw from the pocket and possesses a strong arm to push it down the field. He owns the school record for passing yards and passing touchdowns in a single season. Perhaps his best showing came in a win against Texas powerhouse Westlake where he had over 400 yards and 5 touchdowns through the air. Look for Chase to follow up an impressive junior season this upcoming fall.

28′ ATH Tano Wooten (@TanoWooten) is a swiss army knife on the field. There’s not much he can’t do. He’s an impact player at all three phases of the game. He embodies what it means to be a “football player”. Wooten is rated as a three star prospect in the class of 2028 and has already received offers from Washington and Arizona State. Wooten has strong hands and speed as a receiver, great ball skills as a defensive back and elite vision as a returner. However, his toughness may be his greatest strength. He’s in great shape and has stamina to play a full game on both sides. He will definitely be a player to watch on Saturdays.
