Micah Rhodes, one of the nation’s premier young playmakers and the No. 1 running back in the Class of 2028, has officially announced his commitment to Oklahoma Sooners, capping off a major recruiting win for the Sooners.
The 4-star sophomore out of Klein Oak High School made the announcement after recently narrowing his recruitment to a final three of Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M. After careful consideration, Rhodes elected to take his talents to Norman.
Rhodes’ commitment comes on the heels of a dominant showing at DR7 Road To The Crown Houston, where he was one of the most productive and versatile offensive weapons on the field. Competing with Rare Houston in the 18U division, the 5-foot-10, 187-pound back helped lead his team to a 3–0 Day One Pool Play record. His performance showcased his complete skill set, as he consistently created explosive plays both as a runner and as a receiver.
Rhodes demonstrated elite acceleration, advanced change-of-pace ability, and impressive contact balance. He regularly finished runs through traffic, showed patience and vision between the tackles, and was a constant mismatch when split out wide or used out of the backfield in the passing game. His natural hands and route-running ability further separated him from defenders, reinforcing his status as a true all-purpose back.
On the field, Rhodes has already proven himself against top competition. As a freshman in 2024, he earned MaxPreps Freshman All-America honors after rushing for 934 yards and 10 touchdowns while competing at the Texas 6A varsity level. He was also named District 15-6A Offensive Newcomer of the Year, an achievement that highlighted both his immediate impact and long-term upside.
With a strong football pedigree, advanced skill set, and continued high-level production, Rhodes projects as a difference-maker at the next level. Oklahoma lands an elite offensive weapon with positional versatility and rare polish for his age, while Rhodes solidifies his place as one of the most important commitments in the 2028 cycle.
