DR7 Tampa: 8u Pool Play Top Performers

Written By Platform Scout, Adam Sandoval @AFGP_Sports

The mission and goal of The Platform is to #ExposeTheUnexposed by providing adequate coverage of athletes across the country giving them exposure. We spotlight several prospects who had standout performances throughout the tournament weekend in Tampa.

    Jay’don Roux | Manatee

He is a major playmaker whenever he steps on the field. Off the field, he is a very respectful young man, but when game time arrives, he knows how to elevate his intensity and compete at a high level. His natural speed makes him a dangerous weapon on offense, allowing him to outrun defenders and turn big plays into touchdowns. That same speed translates to the defensive side of the ball, where he can track passes, close ground quickly, and haul in interceptions.

Jaxon Marra | Team Elite All The Smoke

This young student-athlete displays well-advanced reaction time and exceptional twitch. He channels his energy effectively on the field, allowing him to run sharp, quick routes with ease. His strong awareness enables him to read defenses, maneuver through traffic, and find open space consistently.

Anthony “AJ” McLeod Jr. | Tampa Flex

One of the biggest players on the field in this age group, he consistently used his size to his advantage. He showed the confidence and strength to muscle through receptions, regardless of how many defenders were around him. When it came to crunch time in the red zone, he proved to be a go-to target for his team.

    Chase Plumpstead | 300 Boyz

Plumpstead turned heads on Saturday, emerging as one of the most reliable athletes on the field. On defense, he seemed like a magnet to the football, consistently creating disruption and making plays. He was also a threat on offense, proving to be a dependable receiver. In addition, he impressed with his ability to step in at quarterback, showing the accuracy and composure to pick apart a defense.

    The Importance of 8u

The 8U division serves as a key foundation in the development of young athletes. At this stage, players begin to build fundamental skills while their love for the game grows right before your eyes. By starting at an early age, these young athletes give themselves a valuable head start, which often translates into greater confidence and productivity during games as they continue to develop.
