The 2024 7on7 season is finally here and I’m more than excited to be back with DR Sportz and The Platform as “The Road To The Crown” begins. Ahead of this season I was honored with being invited to multiple tryouts and scrimmages as teams prepare for the upcoming season. With that I was able to compile this list of young student athletes on who to watch for as their respective teams are set to compete on the most competitive 7v7 circuit in the NATION. I present to you the DR7 2024 “Road To The Crown” watchlist: Texas Edition.
Team Texas FURY
Marc Jones | 2025 | DB | Conroe HS (TX) | @_marcjones
Marc Jones is one of the most “Under the Radar”, defensive backs in the state of Texas. This young athlete play with great field vision in the secondary and is very physical when it comes to fighting for the ball. Jones has swift feet to stay hip to hip with his opponent, limiting the amount of separation any receiver tries to create off of the line of scrimmage. Through the completion of his junior year he has put up some great stats as he finished with 2 interceptions, 5 PBUs and 16 solo tackles. The growth from last 7on7 season to now has been phenomenal to watch. He has most recently been sharpening all his mechanics in preparation for a very competitive seven on seven season and senior season ahead. As a returning player to the Fury organization, he has taken on one of the leadership roles to lead his team. He has been receiving strong interest from the following schools, UTSA, University of Louisiana – Lafayette, and Texas State. He plans on taking official visits after the 7on7 season.
Jacob Saul | 2025 | ATH | New Caney HS (TX) | @JacobSaul007
Jacob Saul is a three sport athlete that excels tremendously whenever he steps between the white lines. On the gridiron, he has had continuous success when he lines up at the TE position where he is considered to be an offensive weapon. He is considered to be one of his team’s most valuable threats as he can reach to the top shelf to catch any ball above his defender and he runs precise routes that allow him to escape out into the open. Outside of football this is a kid that will handle business in the classroom as well holding a 3.9 GPA. Saul is one of the underrated prospect out of the greater Houston area. He has received interest from Washington University- St. Louis, and Midwestern State University. Look for Saul to have a breakout senior year.
McCoy has long, lean frame at 6’3″ and he passes the eye test. His ability to use his long stride gives him an advantage to create separation down field. With his long wingspan, any quarterback just needs to lay the ball out in front of McCoy and he will go get it. This rising recruit showed consistent hands on quick passes across the middle along with some breakaway speed. As a sophomore, McCoy is starting to create some buzz for himself coming out of the Central Texas region. Already receiving interest from Texas State, look for this young athlete to take over the 7on7 circuit by storm.
LionHearted 7v7
Adrian Corley | 2025 | WR | Timber Creek HS (TX) | @adriancorley1
Corley displayed true athleticism all day at the most recent Lionhearted tryouts. The 6’2” 185 pound receiver impressed everyone with his high vertical leaping ability. He displayed elite quickness, with an explosive burst when working down field, he is shifty in space and he has the ability to change direction quickly. A very powerful build, with good arm length, allows him to gain receptions in traffic and fight off any DB that tries to stop him. He can easily be your deep ball threat for big gains. He was selected First Team All-District at his position with 4 TDs and nearly 400 yards in his junior season. I’m excited to see his progression after this offseason as he already holds a Midwestern State offer.
Carter Zingelman | 2028 | QB | Liberty Christian HS (TX) | @Zingelmann2028
Zingelman has the potential to continue to elevate his game as he matures. Carter has a quick release that enables him to get the ball out quickly in rhythm. The velocity behind his ball is very advanced for his age. He has elite arm strength with the ability to push the ball down field with ease. Carter has superb pocket presence but also can escape pressure and make accurate throws in the run. Zingleman is in the class of 2028, where he finished his season 8-0 and looks to continue that success in 7on7 this offseason. Expect Zingleman to be the top QB recruits in his class from Texas and in the Nation.
Cosby has the throwing ability that allows his ball to travel on a zipline. He sets up to throw with a solid base, he engages his hips, gaining power from the ground up. Cosby has a high football IQ, he progresses through his reads quickly and stays calm in the pocket. The control on his ball placement is phenomenal as well, on multiple occasions he throws the ball deep right into the bread basket for his receiver. A very confident young athlete, who plays in a competitive district during the regular season, Cosby will be one of the top QBs in the state amongst all private schools.
CG3 CAT TAKEOVER
Jamal Polite Jr. | 2026 | ATH | Shoemaker HS (TX) | @HNSTJAY14
Polite Jr. is a very quick athlete that has elite burst off the line of scrimmage. He creates separation early at the snap, he’s a sharp route runner and this makes him a reliable target for his quarterback. He has superb athleticism, he is a playmaker with the football in his hands, diving on low throws and even high pointing the ball very well to secure receptions. I can’t wait to see more from Polite Jr. this season as his team will be playing in DR7’s Dallas tournament in February.
Brandon Brown Jr. | 2026 | ATH | Shoemaker HS (TX) | @Brandon3BrownJr
Brown Jr. has the skill set that will draw attention because of his playmaking ability. A speedy wide receiver that is always willing to make plays and he has the game that makes him a weapon offensively. Brandon is elusive coming out of his break, he has stunning technique that allows him to get open consistently, making him a valuable option. He has also excelled at the running position for Shoemaker High School, as he was awarded 2nd team All-District honors. He made defenses pay, putting up 756 all purpose yards and 9 TDs all in 10 games last season. Brandon has seen his recruiting profile shift upward, with an offer from Campbell University, with visits lined up with Baylor, Houston, Rice and Texas A&M scheduled this offseason. Brown Jr. will be one of the most sought out athletes from Central Texas in 2024.
