2027 QB William Jackson Recruiting Talk: Arkansas, FSU, Florida, & more

    Written by: Drew Johnson (@RealNews102)

The 2027 Quarterback class is beginning to emerge as rankings and college camps arrive near the spring period.

When reviewing the top QB prospects in Florida, one of the premier 2027s in the country resides at Lake Minneola High School as freshman William Jackson has shown true potential and upside to blow up on the recruiting scene.

Already standing at 6-4, 180 pounds, Jackson is the Real Deal folks. He’s one of the more developed and college ready risers I’ve had the chance to watch compete and is now getting attention from major universities. Arkansas was the first Power 4 to offer and Jackson will be on campus for a visit on Thursday.

    Recruiting Talk: (Offers: Arkansas)

Arkansas: I’ve connected with coach Bobby Petrino (Offensive Coordinator). He saw me on Twitter with me working with QB trainer Baylin Trujillo. He sent him some of my film and throwing sessions and that’s really how that offer came about. It’s great to see what’s out there out of the state of Florida. I like traveling, and like seeing what other schools offer. It’s great meeting the coaches, sitting through meetings, things like that.

    Thoughts on in-state schools:

Florida State: I feel great about the Seminoles. I went up there recently and the hype is real. The competitiveness is there. When you go there you going to feel it, the atmosphere is real. I really like coach Mike Norvell and what he’s doing with the team. It’s just a great program all around.

Florida: I could see myself playing at Florida. They have a great program over there too. They are really physical I went to one of their practices if you want to talk about a physical team Florida has that. I was sitting through their meetings and it went really good.

UCF: I like the Knights. 20 minutes away from home my parents like it. I was there for a game last year and I liked it, the atmosphere was good. It’s just a good program overall and hopefully, they will bring me on a visit again sometime soon. I’ve been in talks with them a little bit and it seems good, I like them.

Off-season work: Plenty of time to continue growing but, What are some things you’ve learned in the off-season? I know you train with QB trainer Baylin Trujillo.

He’s (Baylin) really helped me out with my mechanics and my footwork. I’ve learned a lot from him. He’s a great tutor and mentor. He has a QB session where texts us on the computer and we go through our reads and progressions.

Thoughts on 7v7: Got a chance to watch you compete with the well-known 24K 7v7 program. – How do you feel 7v7 helps develop your game?

It helps me through my reads. It puts more of an emphasis on reading a defense while you don’t have pressure in your face. It helps me go through my reads and my footwork. Really makes me focus on my mechanics, footwork, and my progression reads. One of the things I’ve learned throughout these tournaments is that it gets really competitive. It gets competitive so I’m glad to compete. My coaches have taught me a lot and brought me through a lot.

College coaches/traits: Williams is already built with a college-ready frame with plenty of time to work on his overall upside and other intangibles. What are traits you have and what do you do well at the position?

When a play breaks down I’m able to extend it with my legs. I feel like I read the defense at a pretty good level right now. I feel my footwork is killer. I have great coaches to help me with my footwork. Fast feet and I can read the defense pretty well.

Not long before this kid will be on major college coaches’ radar. He will be the leader under center for a rising Lake Minneola program this fall but has time to generate big-time interest around his recruitment before then. He’s listed at 6-4, 180 pounds with a powerful arm and solid footwork/lower body mechanics for his age. Look for Jackson to continue to rise and be a top 2027 QB prospect.
