Baker University, in partnership with Revive Performance, hosted its annual Recruiting Combine on June 4, bringing in top high school talent from across the Midwest. The event was led by Kegan Schumann (@SchumannKegan), with head coach Miguel Regalado and the Baker staff providing evaluations and hands-on instruction.
Baker has long been a respected name in NAIA-FCS football, reaching the National Championship Game in 1986 and 2016, while also making semifinal appearances in 1987, 1989, 1990, 1993, and 2016. The university is equally known for its high academic standards, making it one of the top institutions in both Kansas and the broader Midwest.
The combine allowed athletes to showcase their physical attributes, compete in high-level drills, and connect directly with college coaches. Among the top performers, these five athletes stood out for their all-around efforts and ability to rise to the moment.
Kade Mitchell | Class of 2026
Hayden Catholic High School (Topeka, KS) | RB / FS

Clear MVP of the Combine
Mitchell delivered one of the most complete performances of the day. He posted elite agility scores, locked down receivers in defensive drills, and looked like the top route-runner and pass catcher, despite primarily playing running back in high school. His footwork, explosiveness, and competitiveness stood out across the board.
A top 2026 recruit in Kansas, Mitchell already holds offers from schools such as Benedictine, Bethany, McPherson, and Baker, with more likely on the way.

Mason was a standout at the combine, showing balance, smooth footwork, and explosive cutting ability. As a receiver, he consistently high-pointed the football and secured contested catches. On defense, he brings physicality and aggression to the free safety spot, where he takes pride in delivering punishing hits.
2023 Stats:

Upcoming: Kansas Wesleyan (June 28), Pittsburg State, Fort Hays State
Marquez McCant | Class of 2026
Excelsior Springs High School (MO) | WR
Twitter: @MarquezMcCant01
McCant put on a show at the Baker Combine with elite speed and technical route running. He clocked the fastest L-Cone time of the night and stood out in receiver drills. His footwork at the top of routes, particularly his violent hip drop and controlled burst, left defenders struggling to stay with him.
Interestingly, McCant played quarterback last season, highlighting his versatility and overall athleticism.
Camps & Invites: Baker, MidAmerica Nazarene
Upcoming: William Jewell Mega Camp
With a strong GPA to match his athletic upside, McCant is a name college coaches need to track closely.
Colby McGehee | Class of 2027
Neosho High School (MO) | Linebacker
Twitter: @colby_mcgehee
McGehee may have been the most versatile defensive player at the camp. Built like a classic 4–3 inside linebacker, he plays with the coverage ability of a defensive back, a rare and valuable combination. He went undefeated in RB/LB 1-on-1 drills and displayed elite lateral quickness and man coverage technique.
2023 Camp Stops: Missouri, Arkansas, Pittsburg State
Upcoming: Arkansas, Missouri State, Oklahoma State, Emporia State, Pittsburg State
McGehee has been in contact with Oklahoma State and expects further interest as he continues his offseason circuit.
Dax Grissom | Class of 2026
Olathe South High School (KS) | TE / OLB
Twitter: @Daxgrissom2026
At 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, Grissom was the most impressive tight end at the event. He showed great body control and agility for his size, putting up some of the top cone drill times. In positional drills, he displayed crisp routes, physicality at the catch point, and excellent separation technique.
Grissom is also a standout outside linebacker who thrives on fundamentals and discipline, staying square to the line and avoiding over-pursuit.
Current Offers: Northwestern College, Grinnell University
As he continues gaining exposure, expect Grissom to see his offer list grow quickly.
Turner Juelsgaard | Class of 2026
Lawrence High School (KS) | Slot Receiver
Twitter: @TurnerJuel7
A classic possession receiver, Juelsgaard was one of the most reliable targets at the combine. His sharp, efficient routes and consistent hands made him a favorite among quarterbacks in drills. He has a knack for finding soft spots in the defense and making crucial chain-moving catches.
Juelsgaard may not flash with eye-popping measurables, but if you’re a program in need of a dependable slot receiver, he’s the type who fits perfectly into a timing-based offense.
The Baker University Combine once again proved to be a valuable showcase for emerging talent from across the Midwest. With strong performances from athletes like Kade Mitchell, Carson Mason, Marquez McCant, Colby McGehee, Dax Grissom, and Turner Juelsgaard, the event served as a platform for players to elevate their recruiting profiles and connect directly with collegiate programs. Expect to hear more from this group as the summer camp circuit continues to ramp up.
