Evans High School is one of the top teams in Orlando, Florida and they proved again against Horizon High School why that is the case with a final score of 44-0. This improved the Trojans to 4-1 on the season. They only have one loss and that is to a 4-1 West Orange High School.

After that loss Defensive Coordinator Coach De Hand posted, “Funny thing about wk 1 of the Season. You get a real snapshot of who you are as a team and what type of support you get from your fan base. We took a tough loss wk 1. But I promise you it won’t happen again. Protect the Logo. Protect the Hills.” If you doubted this talented defense and coaching staff, since that loss they have gone undefeated and beat who many considered the top team in Central Florida, the Jones Tigers. Since the first game the defense has allowed 18 points and pitched 3 shutouts. Coach De Hand and that talented defense have stood on that statement.

Offensively you can see the game preparation by the Evans offensive staff in full effect. They attacked Horizon all game. The offensive line for the Trojans dominated as a unit. They controlled the line of scrimmage, and their talented RB room through the ground put on a clinic. Through the air the Trojans were connecting passes at will. This was total team domination.

4 Li’darious Pryor | RB | 3 Star | c/o 2026

This young man is a complete HS running back. He is a downhill runner that runs behind his pads, wastes little motion, has the ability to make one cut and go. Li’Darius will break arm tackles, he has great contact balance and finishes all his runs falling forward. Pryor has good top-end speed with burst and quick acceleration. He is a patient runner and finds lanes easily. Really a workhorse back. Was nicked up in the 3rd Qtr. but walked off the field on his own. Truly a dynamic running back who can play all 3 downs.

2 Omyry Hickson | RB | c/o 2026

Think of a kickoff/punt returner playing RB. That’s how I would describe Omyry. He is explosive, very shifty, a fast-twitch runner who is electric. Very elusive with fast acceleration. He is dynamic in space and runs with urgency. He has outstanding field awareness to see cutback lanes and is smart in space. A creative runner who has natural instincts. He is a game breaker.

1 Carl Jean-Bart | WR | 3 Star | c/o 2026 [Eastern Michigan commit]

Very explosive off of the line and is an instant vertical threat. A home-run hitter who can take a screen to the house, YAC! He is a fluid mover who is savvy in finding spots in zone coverage. Creates natural separation but is a reliable catcher in traffic. A willing blocker on the perimeter. Read coverages well.

Offensive Line [Jermicheal Hardy | Delhart L. Courtney IV | Zion Ramsey | Jaden Theodore | Kharl’hens Alonzo]

This is a real gritty unit that is tough and as a group are  physical tone-setters. They were road-graders up front and moved bodies off the line of scrimmage. They established a downhill identity and dominated. They worked together in protection and kept a steady pocket. They controlled the tempo, they were physical, disciplined, and unified. Truly dominated the game.

Defensive Line [Mujahid Jefferson, Christopher Sanon, Jaylin Jacob, James Burroughs]

This group dominated as well. They gave the opposing team troubles. Horizon wanted to run, and they were dedicated to the run, but it just wasn’t happening. The defensive line was relentless and nasty all game. They set the tone physically and controlled the trenches. They all swarmed to the football; it was meet-me-at-the-QB-or-runner football. They had relentless pressure and forced hurried throws all game. They had consistent pressure as a unit. They were the defensive backbone and dictated the game.

Defensive Backs [JaMichael Hill & Emari Peterson]

This tandem is already one of the top, if not the top corner combo in Central Florida. What was impressive was how willing they were as tacklers and how physical they played. Against a team that runs around 75% of the time, they were swarming to the football. They are both tough and play with a competitive edge. Violent strikers! Quick trigger and high-effort players.

20 Demetre Pryor | S | c/o 2028

Mr. Pryor had himself a day. He got an interception, but the most impressive part was how physical he plays from the safety position. There were a couple of throws over the middle where all I could do was say, watch out. He is driving downhill to separate the receiver from the football. The type of safety where you see receivers over the middle start to get alligator arms and start looking at the QB to ask why they threw that. I was very impressed with his play! A class of 2028 too… He completes a very solid defensive back group with Hill and Peterson. He stood out on film.

Coaches Spotlight

It was a really great game plan from the offensive staff. After the first quarter, the game was essentially over. I loved the way they attacked Horizon’s defense. Horizon was playing with 3 deep safeties and on trips the defensive backs were 10 yards off of the line of scrimmage on some plays. They had to go into the game knowing they would have success on any of the quick game calls they had in their playbook. Schematically they called a perfect game. In the first series they went trips, 2×2, had a condensed formation, ran a bubble, jet, and both inside and outside runs. It was a flawless game plan and well executed.

The QB played the game very well. He made some really good throws to the flats and even connected on passes over the middle even with the defenders playing as far back as they did. I am really interested in watching more of the QB #11 Derone Rogers. He was playing LB during the spring game! He is listed as an athlete, but it’s beyond impressive for him to do what he’s done this year. That is credit to him and credit to the offensive staff for putting him in position to be successful. Has a high football IQ.
