Platte County Flexes Muscle in 60–28 Win Over Washburn Rural

    Written By: Coach Buckets (@PreWarWesley)

Final: Platte County (MO) 60, Washburn Rural (KS) 28

In a clash of undefeated programs, Platte County reminded everyone why they are the defending Missouri Class 5 State Champions. The Pirates’ offense, loaded with talent from the EPIC7 MidWest 7v7 program, scored on all but one possession and rolled to a 60–28 win.

Platte County played without Northwest Missouri State RB commit Adam Gisler (@adamgisler1), who sat out with an AC joint sprain. Even so, the Pirate offense didn’t miss a beat.

2026 QB – Rocco Marriott (@RoccoMarriott) – James Madison Commit

Marriott turned in a dominant performance, throwing for five touchdowns, rushing for three more and adding a two-point conversion. He was surgical in the passing game and overpowering as a runner. His stock is trending up, and a rankings bump later this season looks likely.

    2026 RB/WR – Tres Baskerville (@TresBaskerville)

With Gisler out, Baskerville took over RB duties and flourished. He rushed for 150+ yards and a 30-yard TD run, consistently breaking big plays on the edge. One of the Midwest’s most versatile athletes, Baskerville again showed why he’s a rising name on the recruiting trail.

    2026 WR – Ty Christopher (@Tychristopher07)

Christopher made his impact felt on offense and special teams. He caught four passes for 75+ yards and set Platte County up with strong field position on kick returns. A 99-yard TD return was called back, but Christopher’s explosiveness still shined. He currently holds offers from Arkansas State, Truman State, Benedictine, and Sioux Falls.

2026 TE – Brooks Hall (@brooksdhall) – South Dakota Commit

Hall was Marriott’s safety valve on third downs, finishing with 60+ receiving yards and a touchdown. With receiver-level speed at tight end, Hall profiles as a perfect hybrid weapon for South Dakota.

    2026 TE – Jack Utz (@jackutz35) – Kansas Commit

The 6’5”, 225-pound tight end showcased his versatility by lining up outside for much of the night. Utz secured a key third-down catch and added a highlight-reel touchdown reception, weaving through defenders after a short grab. Jayhawks fans should be excited about his potential.

2026 WR – Braiden Stevens (@BraidenStevens_) – South Dakota State Commit

    Player of the Game

Stevens dominated with 200+ receiving yards and three touchdowns. Known as the best route runner in Missouri, he continually created separation with violent cuts and football IQ. His hands and reliability make him a true go-to weapon, and his performance earned Player of the Game honors.

    2027 LB – Carlos Baskerville (@CarlosBaskerv4)

The younger Baskerville brother was disruptive all night, racking up two sacks, two pass breakups, and multiple QB hurries. He combined speed, aggression, and awareness to shut down both run and pass. A top 2027 linebacker prospect in Missouri, Carlos is a name to track nationally.

2026 RB – Adam Gisler (@adamgisler1) – Northwest Missouri State Commit

Although he didn’t play, Gisler remains a cornerstone of the Pirate offense. A physical, one-cut back with speed through the second level, he’s expected to return next week stronger than before.

    2026 QB – John Hoytal (@john_hoytal)

Hoytal continues to develop as a reliable QB option. His vision on the move stood out, delivering accurate throws under pressure and keeping plays alive. His growth from last season has been significant.

    Extra Notes

Platte County’s offensive chemistry is built on the bond of their EPIC7 MidWest roots under Coach Wayne Baskerville (@qbquest17). That cohesion was clear in this matchup.

It’s also worth noting that Gisler, Christopher, Stevens, and Adeboye Akande are members of the 2024 Missouri Class 5 Sectional 4 champion 4×100 relay team that ran a blazing 40.83. Their track speed translates directly onto the football field.
