    Sabetha Advances in Kansas Playoffs with 28-16 Win

    Sabetha Uses Halftime Adjustments to advance in Playoffs

     

    Sabetha head coach Kaleb Moeller and his coaching staff took advantage of the halftime break to make adjustments that lead the Sabetha Blue Jays to a big second half and carry Sabetha to the next round of 2A Kansas State high school playoffs with a 28 to 16 victory over Silver Lake Friday night.

    Silver Lake started scoring off with a 22-yard touchdown pass from 2029 Quarterback Kipton Kruger to Dayne Johnson. The 2026 Johnson would finish the night off with 171 Yards receiving along with the Touchdown.

    The 7-0 score would remain Through the first half.

    Coming out with the Sabetha coaching staff’s adjustments at halftime, the Blue Jays scored on 1 yard touchdown run by 2027 QB Micah Lang to tie the game at 7-7.

    On Silver Lake’s next drive, the Eagles were able to kick a 22-yard field goal from 2028 Mason Van Vector to make the score 10-7 with 10:15 remaining in the game.

    The ensuing Kickoff proved to be the momentum changing moment that propelled Sabetha to the Win.

    Sabetha Kick Returner, 2026 Cole Menold Received the kickoff at the 13-yard line and returned it 83 yards to the 4-yard line where player of the game 2026 running back William Voos Would punch in the 4-yard touchdown making the score 14-10 Sabetha.

    After a strong Sabetha defense stop, The Blue Jays marched down the field for Quarterback Micah Lang’s 2nd touchdown run, this from 3 yards out.

    With the score now 21-10, Silver Lake was stopped once again by the strong Sabetha defensive on 4th down giving Sabetha the ball at the 38-yard line.

    On the very next play, William Voos took the hand off and scampered 38 yards for his 2nd Touchdown run of the night.

    Voos would finish the night with 159 yards rushing and two touchdowns. As a team, Sabetha would finish the night with 213 yards rushing, with the threesome of Voos, Lang and a strong performance by 2027 fullback Curtis Fitzgerald.

    Silver Lake was able to score a 11-yard touchdown pass from Kruger to 2026 Joel Miller with 35 seconds remaining in the game to bring the final score 28 to 16 Sabetha.

    Sabetha running back William Voos is one of the best running backs in the entire state of Kansas. William uses his amazing balance and burst in and out of cuts to make himself skinny in the hole. Voos utilizes a jump cut between the tackles that is only seen in elite backs at the next level. Voos was a Kansas State High School Track Championships participant as a Junior. After another great track season as a Senior, Voos will be attending exposure camps where he will get the recruitment that he deserves.
