    DR7 Chicagoland: 14U Saturday Notable Standouts

    The mission and goal of The Platform is to #ExposeTheUnexposed by providing adequate coverage of athletes across the country giving them exposure. We spotlight several prospects who had standout performances throughout pool play on Saturday at DR7 Chicagoland.

    Jason Savado | 2030 ATH | Midwest BOOM Yellow

    Savado displayed the ability to react quickly on defense, crashing down on passes, forcing multiple PBU’s and he came up with a key interception for his team during pool play. He displayed his quick twitch ability while running sharp routes, which created separation, allowing him to get open often in the open field. Savado is a high intensity player eager to be on the field. His body language combined with his physical play left no doubt that he is a player who brings his “A” game to the field as a playmaker.

    Devontah Johnson | 2030 RB/WR | BDU Elite

    Johnson impressed on day one during pool play, consistently showing up as one of his quarterback’s favorite targets. He has great instincts combined with excellent ball skills. Johnson has a high football IQ and this contributes to his game, which enabled him to win on his routes. He has the speed to stretch the field vertically and was a big time deep threat on day one. As he continues to flourish on the 7v7 circuit this offseason with his outstanding play, he will be ready to take his freshman year by storm.

    Curtis Whittaker Jr. | 2030 DB | BDU Elite

    Whittaker Jr. is an eye catching defensive back with quick feet that enable him to match up against any wide receiver that lines up against him. His ability to read and diagnose plays quickly allows him to make plays on the ball shutting down his opponent in coverage. He flashed fluid hips, combined with clean footwork, that makes him a standout on the gridiron. Whittaker Jr. has the skill set of a lockdown defender which enables him to shut down one side of the field. He had an interception during pool play that was a game changing moment for his team. He is a versatile athlete that can play multiple positions.

    Diamani “DJ” Henderson | 2029 ATH | Northwest Prime Black

    Henderson is a standout two-way athlete with strong hands that enables him to make contested catches in traffic. He has the skill set that allows him to maneuver through defenses to find open windows. This makes Henderson a reliable target for his quarterback. He was one of the more physical athletes on day one, displaying the ability to redirect receivers at the point of attack. Henderson has a stout compact, frame which allows him to be a playmaker.

    Matthew Jensen | 2030 ATH | M3

    Jensen has a lean, long frame that enables him to win early on his routes. He is a long strider with speed, which allows him to create separation at the point of attack. He runs crisp routes and his large catch radius is added dimension in his game that allows him to win on contested grabs.

    Jensen made plays on both sides of the ball. He uses his length to his advantage in coverage, making it difficult for opponents to find open windows. Growing up with a football coach as a father has contributed to his high football IQ and his ability to read and react quickly was on full display on day one in Chicagoland.
