    Sky’s The Limit Camp Notable Standouts: Wide Receivers

    The start of camp season is here, where players get the opportunity to attend camps hosted by college programs and get in front of them where they will evaluate them. The Sky’s The Limit Pre-College Camp featured some of the top wide receivers in the country and the state of Texas, who came out and showed why they are some of the most skilled athletes are the wide receiver position. We will spotlight a group that featured several highly rated pass catchers in the class of 2025, as well the 2027 class that are names to know.

     

    Taz Williams Jr. | Class of 2025 | Red Oak High School (Tx.) | @Taz_1x

    Williams Jr. is the total package at the wide receiver position, he has all the tools that elite wide receivers possess and he is the most offered wide receiver in the country with a remarkable 56 total offers. His skill set includes exceptional speed, great hands, superb route-running ability and physicality at the point of attack that enables him to win early in his routes. Taz was unguardable at the camp, showing his full toolbox of skills that make him one the best athletes in the country. His junior year he recorded 80 catches for 1,251 yards and 15 touchdowns. This summer, Williams has a busy schedule with official visits planned to some of the top programs in the nation, including USC, Penn State, Alabama, Michigan, Texas A&M, and Ohio State. His recruitment is one of the most closely watched in the country, given his high level of talent and potential to make an immediate impact at the collegiate level.

     

    Daylan McCutcheon | Class of 2025 | Lovejoy High School (Tx.)| @daylanmccutch11

    Daylan McCutcheon is one of the most polished wide receivers in the country, he is a smooth route runner and he moves fluidly in space.  He possesses great hands, a lean and athletic frame, a large catch radius and these traits are tools that stick out in his game. He is one of top wideouts in the class of 2025 with double digits offers from powerhouse schools from across the country. Daylan was a top performer, who won nearly every rep in the 1v1s, showing that he can be a dominant force. His junior year stats are impressive, with 94 catches for 1,430 yards and 20 touchdowns. McCutcheon has a busy summer lined up with official visits to USC, Ohio State, Texas, and Florida State.  He recently visited SMU, showcasing his wide range of interest and the competition among top programs to secure his commitment. Daylan looked sharp and showed his full toolbox of skills at the Sky’s The Limit Camp on Sunday.

     

    Trenton Yancey | Class of 2027 | Arlington Lamar High School (Tx.) | @d1trent_

    Yancey is emerging as one of the top freshman wide receivers in Texas. At 6’0″ and 185 pounds, he has a stout build that enables him to shrug off contact in close quarters. Yancey is a polished route runner with the ability to burst in and out of his breaks, complemented by his strong hands and ability to attack the ball in flight. His elite body control and understanding of leverage makes him nearly unguardable in one-on-one situations. He is one of the top players in the class of 2027 and he has seen his profile rise steadily this off-season. This month, Texas, Wisconsin, Colorado, Texas A&M, Miami, and UNLV have all come to the table with offers. I have had the to chance to see Yancey this spring on multiple occasions and each time I have become more impressed with his game. Yancey saw significant time his freshman season at Lamar and he returns as a key weapon for the Vikings in 2024. Yancey was one of the most impressive prospects on Sunday in Dallas.

     

    Jaylen Pile | Class of 2026 | Parish Episcopal High School (Tx.) | @jaylenpile2026

    Jaylen is a silky smooth route runner with strong hands, combined with an explosive burst off the line and this makes him a handful for opposing defenders. His ability to break down, shift his weight, and explode out of his breaks while maintaining control sets him apart as a route technician. Pile’s strength and body control enable him to make contested catches in traffic effectively. He was able to win multiple reps on Sunday, using his versatile skill set to shake free and get open during the 1v1s. Standing at 6’1″ and 180 pounds with a lean and athletic build, Pile is a rising junior who has quickly become one of the hottest recruits in Texas this offseason. His impressive skill set has garnered offers from a variety of top programs, including Tulsa, Arizona, Mississippi State, Florida State, Washington, Wisconsin, Arkansas, and Michigan. Pile was a key cog in the Parish Episcopal run to a state title in 2023. Jaylen has been sharp this offseason each time I have seen him at several events this spring and he is proving each time that he is one of top pass catchers in the 2026 class in Texas.

     

    Mason James | Class of 2026 |Norman North High School (Ok.) | @MasonJames_1

    James made the trip from Oklahoma to Dallas and put on a show, showcasing his talent as a rising junior wide receiver. He is a silky smooth route runner with polished footwork, James has a stout, lean build that enhances his shifty movement in space. He can make cuts without false steps and is explosive in and out of his breaks, demonstrating great hands and the ability to attack the football in flight. His in-person performance was highly impressive. A 4-star prospect, James possesses all the tools of an elite wide receiver. His sophomore season tape shows an explosive athlete with the speed to stretch the field and the leaping ability to play above the rim. Excelling at yards after the catch, he produced high-level numbers with 1,135 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns during his sophomore season, marking him as one of the top wideouts in the class of 2026 in Oklahoma. James has received offers from numerous prestigious programs, including Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tulsa, California, Michigan State, SMU, Washington, Baylor, Michigan, and Ole Miss.

     

    Trysten Shaw | Class of 2027 | Mesquite High School |(Tx.) | @ShawTrysten

    Trysten is one of the most skilled route runners in the class of 2027 in Texas. He is jitterbug quick, he runs superb routes, Shaw combines clean footwork with the ability to cut, plant, and burst in and out of his breaks, effectively separating from his opponents. He tracks the ball well in flight and is exceptionally shifty in space. Shaw was unguardable at the Sky’s The Limit Camp, showcasing his impressive skills. Trysten has been a handful on the 7v7 circuits this spring, playing with one of the top programs in the country, True Buzz, where he has been consistently a featured target due to his ability to get open often and be a playmaker. He recently picked up an offer from Stephen F. Austin and is poised for a breakout sophomore season. His talent and potential make him a player to watch closely in the coming years. As he continues refine his game and mature, his skill set will elevate with him.

     

    Khing Thibodeaux | Class of 2027 | Garland Lakeview Centennial (Tx.) | @KhingThibo13493

    Thibodeaux is an imposing target at 6’3″ and 230 pounds, who moves fluidly and has excellent short area quickness. He possesses strong hands and a stout presence at the point of attack, utilizing his extended reach to keep defenders at arm’s length in close quarters. His large catch radius and ability to excel in one-on-one situations highlights his skill set. Thibodeaux showcased his talent by making several over-the-shoulder grabs, demonstrating his ability to track the ball well and use his body effectively in tight coverage to create separation upon the ball’s arrival. His performance in one-on-ones was impressive, winning multiple reps at the Sky’s The Limit Camp. This offseason, Thibodeaux picked up offers from San Diego State and UNT, reflecting his growing recognition as a formidable wide receiver. Khing is one the top tight end prospects in the 2027 class and his stock should continue to rise heading into the fall season.

     

    Josiah Thomas | Class of 2025 | Lake Travis High School (Tx.) | @Josiah_Thomas6

    Josiah displayed an impressive and versatile skill set throughout the camp. He ran sharp, crisp routes, he was explosive off the line, Thomas has a stout build with broad shoulders, enhancing his presence on the field. His large catch radius and strong hands make him a reliable target. Thomas excels in shifting his weight and making decisive cuts, maintaining strength at the point of attack. His strong showing at the camp saw him winning the majority of his reps. Thomas was impressive this spring on the 7v7 circuits, showing the ability to make big plays and get open often. Josiah has the skill set that makes him an attractive prospect. Recently, he picked up an offer from Northeastern State. Thomas will be a valuable pick up for a college program. Look for his profile to rise with camp season starting, as he gets more eyes on him.

     

    Amari Wyatt | Class of 2027 | South Grand Prairie High School (Tx.) | @AmariWyatt7

    Wyatt has the quickness to win off the line early in his routes, he has the ability to get in and out his breaks and accelerate through his routes and he showed that he can make grabs in close quarters during the camp on Sunday. Amari has strong hands, he is a hands catcher of the football and his ability to torque his body to free himself against defenders were several traits he used to win reps during the 1v1s versus the defense. He has the speed to get deep and he ran the short to intermediate routes well. Wyatt was young player who stood out as a playmaker who has reliable hands. Wyatt was impressive and will be a player to keep an eye on this fall at SGP.

     

    Noel Butler | Class of 2026 | Mansfield Lake Ridge High School (Tx.) | @NoelButler26

    Butler is quick in space, he has a good burst at his initial get off and he has the ability to free himself in close quarters to make grabs in traffic. He has the speed to get deep and his route running is clean, which enabled him to get open during the 1v1s versus the defense. Noel has the skill set to turn short grabs into big gains, he has the speed and quickness to excel at yards after the catch. This is the second time I have seen him in a camp setting and he has been impressive on both occasions. Look for Butler to get touches for Lake Ridge this fall and be a spark plug in their offensive game plan.

     

    Kristoff Fantroy | Class of 2025 | Desoto High School (Tx.) | @FanKrs

    Fantroy is a smooth route runner with elite suddenness and his ability to get to the top of his routes and break out were several traits in his game that allowed him to win multiple reps at the Sky’s The Limit Camp on Sunday. He has the elite speed to get deep in hurry and he blew by defenders several times to make catches on deep balls. Fantroy has strong hands and he attacks he football with aggression that enabled him to make several grabs in close quarters during the 1v1 reps versus the defense. Kristoff is a multi-sport athlete, who ran a 10.77 100M this spring on the track and he ran the anchor leg on the Eagles 4×200 relay team. Fantroy has performed well at several camps this spring, earning the WR MVP at the VTO 100 Camp and he picked up an offer from Northeastern State this month. He was apart of the Desoto state title run in 2023 and he returns to help a loaded offense try for a third championship.
