The DR7 Road To The Crown Dallas tournament showcased several promising players who are primed to gain attention on the recruiting trail this offseason. These standouts displayed their potential with notable performances over the weekend, proving they have game and are just beginning to tap into their talent. The mission and goal of The Platform is to #ExposeTheUnexposed and provide adequate coverage of athletes around the country giving them exposure. Keep an eye on these up-and-coming players as they continue to shine and attract attention during the offseason.

Dallas featured some ballers on all age levels!! Damaris Richardson Jr. of BME 7v7, was a player that stood out early over the weekend. This was my second opportunity to scout and cover him, which allowed me to tap back into my previous notes and compare them. The hype around him was real and boy this kid was impressive on both sides of the ball on both days in Dallas. Only a Freshman, Richardson Jr. plays with a maturity and confidence in his game beyond his years. He didn’t shy away from competition and plays fast as if his hair were on fire. He has great ball skills combined with a natural instinct to find the football and this enables him to be in position to make plays on the ballin close quarters. Offensively, he shows everything you want in an athlete. He lines up in the slot receiver position and it fits him like a glove. He has a powerful, stout build and he understands how to use his body to break off from press coverage. Damaris showed he has the ability to create separation from defenders and he has great body control, which was displayed in multiple in game reps when he lined up receiver. Keep eye on this two way player who has some juice in his game.

Braylin has a skill set that can play in multiple positions within a defensive scheme, he plays fast but under control and he sticks to receivers well in coverage. Causey saw some snaps in the backfield offensively in Dallas, showing off a pair of strong, reliable hands, making several contested catches, displaying that he has the skill set to play on the offensive side of the ball. He plays under control defensively, with an aggressiveness to his game that enables him to play the passing lanes well, which lead to several pass breakups in close coverage. Causey passes the eye test, he has a powerful, lean, stout build with broad shoulders and a well put together lower half. Only a freshman, expect Causey’s recruiting to pick up this offseason as his play on the field this continues to blossom and he gets more eyes on him.

Tyler Wright showed flashes defensively that made him really stand out, his footwork was clean, he transitioned smoothly into his backpedal and his ability to plant, cut and break on the football allows him to be in position to make plays on the ball in close coverage. Tyler has a lean, sleek build, which fits the mold of your top flight cornerbacks and he uses his frame to his advantage in close quarters to stay engaged in phase giving his opponent little room to get free. Wright is very elusive with sportscar like reflexes, which allowed him to roam the defense and make several plays resulting in defensive stops. Tyler showed his versatility by taking a few reps on offense and he displayed some great route running combined with his sure hands, which made a reliable target on several occasion hauling in passes for first downs. This Dallas tournament was full of elite prospects and Wright showed that he stacks up well against top competition. He is a name in the state of Oklahoma in the class of 2026 to know.

Kohen Brown was in his own element this weekend, showcasing versatility on both sides of the ball. He looked very comfortable in man coverage and wasn’t shying away from competition. Several pass breakups in wet-conditions, showed that when he is in phase defensively, his overall elite athleticism takes over allowing him to cut, plant and redirect his weight quickly to shut down passing lanes. Brown is a sticky defender, who showed this weekend in Dallas that he has the skill set to guard any receiver who lines up across from him and be dominate. Brown has a lean, rangy frame, with an extended reach, he is physical at the point of attack and he uses his reach to get hands on receivers early to disrupt their timing off the line of scrimmage. Brown saw action this past fall for Waxahachie on the offensive side of the ball at wide receiver, showing off excellent short area quickness, reliable hands and he excelled at yards after the catch. But don’t be surprised if he get recruited as a lockdown corner . At 6’0 173 pounds, he has room to grow and add bulk to his frame. He showed over the weekend that he has the range and ball skills to play be dominate against top competition! Brown had a game changing pick six that brought the crowd to it’s feet and injected some energy into his team. Kohen’s play defensively helped Wall Street advance to the semifinals on #Crown Sunday in Dallas. His profile on the recruiting trail is gaining steam, with SMU showing interest, it won’t be long before his first offer in on the table this offseason.
