Tonight’s showdown between Duncanville and DeSoto is more than just a rivalry—it’s a battle for the 11-6A District title and regional bragging rights. This will mark the 18th meeting between the Eagles and Panthers since 2004, with DeSoto holding an 11-6 advantage historically. However, Duncanville has dominated recently, winning five of the last six matchups. DeSoto’s lone win in that stretch came last season as they rolled to an undefeated year and their second straight state championship.
Duncanville, ranked No. 2 nationally and No. 1 in Texas, enters the game as a powerhouse, while DeSoto, ranked No. 7 nationally and No. 4 in Texas, is determined to defend their district title. This heavyweight clash will feature a wealth of top football talent, making it one of the most anticipated matchups of the season.
The Panthers will be led by 5-star quarterback Keelon Russell (Alabama commit) and 5-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore (Oregon commit), along with playmakers, wide receivers Zachery Turner, Ayson Theus, and Trenton Yancey. Offensive lineman Ameer Ross will anchor the line as a veteran leader. Defensively, Duncanville boasts standout defensive backs Tyren Polley Jr., Javion Holiday, Braylon Edwards, and Nehemiah Borner, with Kevin Ford Jr. adding strength up front.
DeSoto counters with Virginia Tech commit Kelden Ryan at quarterback, supported by running backs Tiger Riden (Texas A&M commit) and Myson Johnson-Cook, wide receivers Ethan Feaster and Daylon Singleton (SMU commit), and offensive lineman Byron Washington (Syracuse commit). Defensively, TCU commit Keylan Abrams will lead the Eagles, along with Sael Reyes, Marshall Kirven, and Cortez Reagor.
With DeSoto head coach Claude Mathis and Duncanville head coach Reginald Samples at the helm, this matchup promises to be an intense battle between two of Texas’ top programs.
