Built on Violence and Discipline: Inside the Osceola Kowboys’ Dominant Defense

If you play the Kowboys [6A District 5 Champs] you better buckle your chinstrap. This team has some DUDES! Defensively as a unit they fly to the ball and to me have the best interior DL combo that I have seen this year. Offensively out of the Wing they are creative and have the speed and shiftiness to cause problems if the Defense does not play gap sound. Their QB  was not asked to do a lot this game and probably doesn’t throw it a ton anyway due to the offensive system. Either way, it is a very well executed offense that is fun to watch. Defensively…well, they are dynamic. All 11 hats fly to the ball, they are a complete defensive team. They will control the line of scrimmage, and they have LB play to match .  In the secondary they fly around and if you are not careful will deliver an old school big hit. They are scoring threats on defense; big hits, forced fumbles, interceptions the defense is legitimate. I really enjoyed watching this game and many times I was out of seat with the athletes they have.

#11 | Jason Lewis | @lajasooo | Edge, Hybrid DL | c/o 2027

One of my favorite players to watch up to this point in the season. Disruptive hybrid, really a positionless rusher. Elite burst off the line for a HS athlete. Sudden, violent movement that overwhelms. Great acceleration through contact. Sideline to sideline range, runs like a LB and hits like a DE. Position flexibility (DE, OLB, 3-tech). Sets the tone physically, high motor on every snap. The highlight of the day for me was when he forced a fumble on the QB, picked up the ball on a one hop and sprinted 40 yards to the Endzone. Just an amazing prospect with unreal potential.

#44 | Amier Clarke | @double_4s | DT | c/o 2026 | Georgia Tech commit

Good luck finding a better HS DT than Amier. Just dominant. You have to devote 2 OL to him and then it is not good enough. You better have a great C/G combo if you want success. Drives blockers backward with leg power. Impossible to move off the spot. Plays low and controls contact. Splits double teams, forces the QB off his spot. Drives the LOS back in the QB’s lap. Finishes with bad intentions and is a heavy tackler. Plays with violence and force. Plas violent and disciplined. Total package, tremendous player, and prospect.

#2 | Ja’Kyri Watson | @KyriWatson1| ATH |  c/o 2026

Three-way Playmaker. Dynamic dual threat and a game changer in all phases. Iron Man Football!.  Great acceleration and fast twitch. Will hit top gear in 2-3 steps. Smooth transition from defense to offense with fluid hips and controlled footwork. Outstanding short area quickness. Slippery through traffic, absorbs hits and keeps moving forward. Elite open file awareness. Defensively sets the coverage. High IQ. Transitions well from backpedal to drive. Tracks the ball naturally through the air. Strong tackler in space. Understands route concepts and coverage. True competitor.

#78  | Marcus Ferrer | @ik_marcus | OT | c/o 2026

Solid frame and length w/ long arms and big wingspan. Efficient kick-slide with patient hands to strike on time and not panic. Strong base anchor and does not give ground. Blocks through the whistle and drives defenders off the ball. Strong grip and latch once engaged defenders are locked out. Can anchor in pro-style sets or spread looks. Plays with violent hands.

Osceola Kowboys are now 6-2 as they head into a big matchup with Lake Wales. If the offense can stay ahead of the chains with this defense will be problems for any team in the state. Well coached team with a defense that will keep them in any game. I look forward to watching as they make a run in the playoffs.
