Expose The Unexposed Spotlight: Class of 2027 TE Colton Weddel Turns Heads In Houston

The Woodlands TE Colton Weddel made a significant impression in Houston during DR7’s Road To The Crown, establishing himself as one of the more intriguing tight end prospects in attendance.

At 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, Weddel possesses an athletic frame with room to continue adding functional strength. His physical profile immediately stands out, he has a long, lean frame, and he is coordinated with a naturally large catch radius that quarterbacks trust.

During pool play, he was a focal point of The Woodlands offense. He consistently worked the middle of the field with confidence, presenting a reliable target on in-breaking routes and seam concepts. Weddel uses his body effectively to shield defenders, creating separation without needing excessive space. His strong, dependable hands showed up repeatedly in traffic.

What separates him is the blend of length and stride speed. He is a long strider who can stretch the field vertically, forcing safeties to account for him. On film, he transitions quickly to the second level and wins contested situations, particularly on jump balls where his body control and timing become major assets.

His production backs up the evaluation:

17 catches for 268 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Weddel is a mismatch. He can line up detached, flexed, or attached and still create problems. With his athleticism, body control, and natural receiving ability, he profiles as a tight end with next-level upside.

He may be flying under the radar now, but that window is closing.

Heading into Crown Sunday, he is a go-to player to monitor closely.

College programs should be getting him on their recruiting boards immediately.
