    Platform Spotlight: Sunlake High School

    By: Drew Johnson (RealNews102)

Sunlake High School has new life since hiring head coach and Quarterback House trainer BJ Hall as he looks to bring fresh energy and a winning standard heading into the fall season. The former Zephyrhills Christian Academy assistant will provide plenty of knowledge from his playing days in the Arena/Canadian Football Leagues for his group of young men to develop on and off the field. Interestingly, Sunlake has some notable prospects on its roster despite finishing just 1-9 last season under an interim head coach. One of those recruits, Rogers Jones, has earned a recent offer from Ole Miss while his recruitment continues to progress. National Scout Drew Johnson will begin providing coverage and analysis on various high schools with rising prospects who deserve recognition. For this list, here are a few playmakers from Sunlake High that need a spotlight shined on their recruitment. The Platform is here to Expose the Unexposed!

Jones is going to begin generating excitement around his recruitment this off-season because of his well-built frame and the potential upside of playing multiple positions. He has excelled on the back side of the defense playing the free safety position where he uses basketball-esque hops to high-point jump balls and good football IQ in passing coverage and open-field tackling situations. Jones checks a lot of Power Five boxes for a rising recruit. Has good agility, quickness, and toughness to excel at the position. He recorded 51 total tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, 3 PBU’s, and *5 INTs. Jones has recent offers from Ole Miss and Bethune Cookman. He is a true utility piece that can be a playmaker in the middle of the field for a Power 5 school. Florida coaches need to get on board soon and establish a relationship before it’s too late.

Head coach BJ Hall on Jones’ game: “He’s rangy, a true center fielder at the Safety position. Some major D1 colleges can see Rogers playing in the box and adding 20 pounds to his already solid frame. He had 5 ints last season and is one of the leading scores on the basketball team. Can jump out of the gym and high points the ball as well as any players in the state.”
