Desoto Eagles X-Factor: Running Back Marvin Duffey Jr.

By Platform Scout: Marc Henry @marchen44

Marvin Duffey Jr. has been the bell cow in the Desoto running game, he has rushed for 774 yards, 13 touchdowns and has had four games of over 100 yards this season. He has been putting work diligently behind the scenes, sharing the backfield with other highly regarded players like Tiger Riden and Jaden Trawick. In the current season, both Riden and Tradwick have faced injuries that forced them to spend time on the sidelines. This opened the door for Duffey Jr. to step up and take on the role of the next man up. The senior running back seized this opportunity with both hands, proving that he had the qualities necessary to carry the Desoto Eagles’ running game on his shoulders. One of Duffey Jr.’s standout qualities is his ability to run effectively between the tackles. He possesses a low center of gravity and a powerful, stout build, making him difficult to bring down. Marvin is shifty in space, which allows him to slip through defenses, and his excellent vision helps him set up blocks effectively. When contact is made, he shows the capability to break tackles, highlighting his strength and determination. Above all, Duffey Jr. possesses a keen nose for the goal line, which makes him a valuable asset in the Eagle offense. Duffey Jr. has the breakaway speed to go the distance and he blazes up the track for the Desoto Eagle Track team in the 100M and 200M events. He is likely to receive meaningful touches in the upcoming game against Duncanville, and he could be The X-Factor who helps the Eagles secure a victory, especially with a physical offensive line to support him. Marvin recently picked up an offer from Judson University, a sign that collegiate programs are taking notice of his skill set out of the backfield.
