    Timpson Wins 2A Division I State Championship

    The Timpson Bears showcased exceptional teamwork and individual brilliance in their 2A Division I State Championship triumph. Impressive quarterback play, dynamic offensive plays, and remarkable special teams contributions defined their dominance. Defensively, the Bears displayed resilience, limiting Tolar to a mere 7 points, securing a dominating victory. Notable standout performances by key players who made impactful plays, contributed to the team’s overall success. The mission and goal of The Platform is to #ExposeTheUnexposed and provide adequate coverage of athletes around the country giving them exposure. Here are the players who help lead Timpson to a 49-7 victory of Tolar.

     

    Terry Bussey | Athlete | Class of 2024 | Texas A&M commit

    Bussey finished off a decorated high school career by leading Timpson to a state title. His electrifying and twitchy style, smooth running, and effortless playmaking ability make him stand out. As a strong-armed quarterback, he consistently delivers on-target passes. Defensively, his playmaking abilities shine at the safety position, showcase his speed, range and sure tackling. His outstanding performance in the 2A Division I Championship game earned him the Offensive MVP, setting a record by throwing the longest touchdown pass (97 yards) in 2A Division I Championship Game history and recording the longest run (93 yards) for a touchdown. A Texas A&M commit, Bussey finished with a remarkable stat line of 466 total yards and 6 touchdowns.

     

    Amare Bruton | Athlete | Class of 2024

    Amare showcased his versatility and dominance as a two-way player in the 2A Division I State Championship game, leaving a lasting impression across multiple facets of the game.
    Bruton’s impact was felt in all three phases of the game, with a standout performance on special teams highlighted by a remarkable kick return for a touchdown. His great open-field running, smooth cuts against the grain and quick changes of direction demonstrated his agility and elusiveness, making him a force to be reckoned with in the open field.
    In addition to his contributions on special teams, Bruton displayed his skills as a receiver by catching a 36-yard touchdown pass. His speed and elusiveness after the catch were evident, showcasing an ability to separate from defenders. Alongside these physical attributes, Bruton’s sure hands made him a reliable target in critical situations. Defensively, Bruton stepped in front of a pass and stopped a Tolar drive with an interception.
    As a dynamic athlete impacting the game on offense, defense, and special teams, Bruton’s performance in the State Championship underscores his value as a multifaceted player. His abilities make him an enticing prospect for college recruiters, offering a skill set that can contribute significantly to any team.

     

    Dacorian Johnson | Athlete | Class of 2026

    Dacorian delivered a remarkable performance in the 2A Division I State Championship Game. Johnson combines agility with his long, lean, athletic frame that enables him to be a threat wherever he lines up. His strong and reliable hands, coupled with an impressive catch radius, make him a valuable asset in any offensive scheme. Johnson’s speed not only allows him to break free for long runs but also played a crucial role in setting a record with a stunning 97-yard touchdown catch.
    In the championship game, Johnson showcased his prowess by finishing with six catches for an impressive 187 yards. This performance not only demonstrated his consistency as a reliable receiver but also underscored his ability to make a significant impact in high-stakes situations.
    With Johnson’s multifaceted skill set and standout achievements, he is poised to attract attention from college recruiters.
