What Coach Ernest Grant has done with the Team Texas Fury 7v7 organization needs to be noted. His on and off-the-field dedication to push these boys to play at the next level is the epitome of what 7v7 programs should be used for. Building life-long relationships but also embracing the competition. Let’s get into some of the DOGS Texas Fury had during the Road to the Crown – DR7 Houston tournament this past weekend.
Jalen Mickens | WR | 2025 | Willis | @JalenMickens4
This kid is pure electric on the field and had me feeling like I was still in Florida with the speed he displayed. The rising junior picked up an offer from Arkansas State shortly after the DR7 tournament. He finished as one of the top weekend standouts while displaying his sharp and clean route running skills with big-play sure-handed ability. Look out for him to pick up steam on the recruiting trail. 2023 stats: 50 receptions – 883 yards- 13 TD
DeBraun Hampton | WR | 2024 | Willis | @debraun_hampton
Wow, this kid is a pure baller at the wide receiver position. I knew he could play but DeBraun showed off his talent and potential to be a playmaker at the college level. Excellent route runner is evident but the IQ and ability to find open spots in the defense is what stands out. He’s also a speedy wideout with downfield big plays this weekend. Look out for the Florida commit to stamp his name as the Real Deal.
Eli Morcos | QB | 2025 | Lake Creek | @EliMorcos4
One of the top QB standouts this week hands down was Eli Morcos who surprised me immediately with his size at 6’2, 205-pounds. Combine that with his natural throwing release and arm talent to put the ball where it needs to be. This kid displayed his ability to throw nearly every route on the tree this weekend. Has to start getting some looks from the local Texas schools looking for legitimate upside at the position.
Mitch Melton | LB | 2024 | Conroe | @2_Mitch_Melton
I have had the chance to watch Melton develop in the past year or so. He’s moving very fluid in pass coverage and has added some size to his college-ready frame. Melton will have an immediate impact on the Sam Houston linebacker room as he gets it done in the classroom and has a leadership aura when speaking with him.
Marc Jones | DB | 2025 | Conroe | _marcjones
Jones finished the weekend as one of the top DB standouts for The Platform. Coach put me on this kid a game before he recorded a big-time diving INT to show off his takeaway skills. Jones is a smart defensive back with plenty of time to work on his overall technique.
Keelan Harris | WR | 2025 | Conroe | @Kelan_Harris1
Harris is one of my sleeper WR prospects who had a huge day on championship Sunday. He nearly caught everything thrown his way with some tough caught ball near the sideline. He has decent route running skills but the sticky glue hands landed him on the list.
Cameron Nunley | QB | 2027 | Conroe | @cameron2nunley
Nunley is the younger brother of talented QB prospect Christian Nunley and make no doubt about it this kid can sling it. He had a decent Day One playing with Texas Fury. Look out for Nunley to continue working on his mechanics where his arm talent can really shine.
Kairee Williams | WR | 2027 | @KaireeW
Wow, college coaches looking for a 6’2 185 freshman prospect that has the body and skill to play all over the field. Tap in with this kid, NOW.
Darville Allen | DB | 2025 | Willis | @DarvilleAllen5
One of the premier lockdown defensive backs throughout the tournament this kid was the PBU king. Made plenty of plays on the ball this weekend to be listed as one of the top DB standouts. Plays with the DOG mentality needed for the position. Keep an eye on his overall development.
Young Pup Standouts:
