Emptying My Notebook: The Box Showcase Offensive Playmakers

The Box Showcase featured several dynamic offensive playmakers who turned heads throughout the day. From quarterbacks to tight ends and running backs, these athletes proved they’re ones to watch heading into the fall.

    Nick Barber – TE – 2026 – Brandeis HS

At 6-foot-3, 245 pounds, Barber was a physical force. He used his power and frame to dominate DBs at the line of scrimmage. With strong hands, quick feet, and a big catch radius, he was a mismatch all afternoon. Also a standout defensive lineman on film, Barber made his presence felt against high-level competition.

Timmy Timmermann – TE – 2026 – Legacy School of Sciences HS

Timmermann is a big target at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds. He displayed a large catch radius, crisp route running, and strong hands. He consistently came down with contested catches and excelled in jump-ball situations. His frame has room to add more size at the next level, making him a high-upside TE prospect.

Kyden Barker – QB – 2026 – Clear Falls HS

Barker showed why he’s one of the top returning passers in Texas. He has a strong arm, clean mechanics, and the ability to thread throws into tight windows. He was accurate at all levels and delivered the ball with great touch. Barker holds offers from UNLV, Colorado State, UTSA, North Texas, Sam Houston State, Tulane, and Texas State.

Donovan Warren – QB – 2028 – Houston Episcopal HS

Warren impressed with his arm strength and decision-making. He showed the ability to make throws outside the numbers with zip and accuracy and wasn’t afraid to test tight coverage windows. The rising sophomore is definitely a name to watch moving forward.

    Tyler Williams – WR – 2028 – Houston Episcopal

Williams is a long, athletic receiver with strong hands and clean route-running ability. At 6-foot-2, 170 pounds, he has a large catch radius and showed strong concentration in contested situations. Another young standout with a bright future.

Patrick Spann – RB – 2026 – Katy Jordan HS

Spann was one of the most complete backs at the showcase. He flashed versatility as a pass catcher, ran polished routes, and showed strong hands in 1v1s. As a runner, he displayed quickness, clean footwork, and elusive cuts. Expect Spann’s stock to rise this offseason.

    Trevon Johnson – RB – 2027 – Tomball HS

Johnson turned in one of the day’s most well-rounded RB performances. With smooth movement, great balance, and sharp cuts, he was tough to handle in drills. He’s a strong, compact runner (5-foot-11, 200 pounds) with speed and polished route running ability. A complete back with high upside. Keep an eye on him this season at Tomball.

    Konner Dandridge – WR – 2026 – Bridgeland HS

Dandridge had a standout camp. A crisp route runner with explosive get-off, he made several contested grabs and proved reliable in tight coverage. At 6-foot, 175 pounds, he’s a polished wideout who helped lead Bridgeland on a deep playoff run in 2024. He recently picked up an offer from Missouri Southern. He is having an excellent offseason on the 7v7 circuit, showing that he is a WR prospect that colleges need to get eyes on. He is a next level talent.

Kaden Mendenhall – QB – 2026 – Alief Elsik HS

Mendenhall stood out as one of the top quarterbacks at the event. At 6-foot-4, 190 pounds, he’s athletic with a long frame and excellent pocket presence. He showcased clean mechanics and the ability to hit all parts of the field with accuracy and touch. A dual-threat QB who throws well on the run, he passed for 2,517 yards and 23 touchdowns last season, adding 500 rushing yards and 5 scores. He was named First Team All-District and holds offers from Midwestern State, Lamar, and East Central Oklahoma.
