Nearly 1,000 teams and programs signed up to compete on the DR7 7v7 circuit in 2024.

In 10 total tournaments, 954 total teams registered. There were four tournaments with over 100 teams, and seven with 80 or more teams.

The Crown National Championship tournament in April saw 178 total teams descend upon Fort Worth, Texas to try and win the title across six different age groups.

This marked the third year in existence for DR7, a tournament series powered by DR Sportz.

DR7 recently announced their 2025 schedule, and plans to venture in to several new markets this year in Mesa, Arizona and Edwardsville, Illinois (a St. Louis metro area city).

“I thought year three was a great year, it really helped us solidify DR7 as one of the nation’s leading brands,” Founder and CEO of DR Sportz Johnathan Mumphrey said.

The biggest news was the announcement that DR7’s The Crown National Championship will move from Texas to Florida in 2025.

In DR7’s inaugural year, The Crown was held in Tampa, Florida. In the two years since, it has been held in Texas in Round Rock and Fort Worth.

In 2025, The Crown National Championship will be held on the campus of The Villages High School in The Villages, Florida.

“I was blown away once I saw the complex, and so we had to bring it back to the state of Florida,” Mumphrey said. “This is probably one of the best complexes that I’ve been to in my tenure in the 7-on-7 space.”

The Crown will be held April 12th-13th 2025.

“It’s the most competitive national championship you’ll find in the marketplace,” Mumphrey said of The Crown.

The Villages will also be home to two other tournaments during the season, one from February 1st-2nd and the other on March 1st-2nd.

Last year’s home of The Crown, North Crowley High School, will host two tournaments during the season as well.

North Crowley’s facilities received a facelift since last year, transforming several of their grass fields to turf.

DR7 will be at North Crowley February 8th-9th and March 29th-30th.

Houston has been one of DR7’s biggest hubs since the circuit began, frequently hosting tournaments of over 100 teams.

H-Town will be the site of two DR7 tournaments in 2025 as well: the first January 18th-19th at Waller High School northwest of downtown, and the second on February 22nd-23rd at Gosling Sports Field in The Woodlands.

In addition to those destinations, DR7 will also host tournaments in Louisiana, Georgia, Oklahoma and Illinois.

New Orleans will host DR7 on February 15th-16th at the Estelle Soccer Field.

DR7 will be in the Atlanta area March 8th-9th at a location that will be announced soon.

The Oklahoma tournament will move from Tulsa to Oklahoma City this year, with Westmoore High School hosting DR7 on March 15th-16th.

Lastly, DR7 heads to a new market on March 22nd-23rd hosting a tournament at Plummer Family Park in Edwardsville, Illinois just outside of St. Louis, Missouri.

As DR7 gets set to enter year four, expectations are high and excitement is already brewing.

“What you’ll see this year, we’re ramping it up a lot more,” Mumphrey said. “We’re going with a lot of live content, so we’re going to be in your face this year.”

“We’re going to make sure you get the exposure you’re looking for.”
